Interior door installation requires precise framing, shimming, and alignment. We install pre-hung doors in new or modified openings, and slab doors in existing frames — adjusting strike plates, hinges, and hardware for a door that operates flawlessly.
The rough opening is checked for plumb and level. The pre-hung unit or slab is shimmed and fastened into position. Hinges are mortised if required. All casings are installed, and hardware is set and adjusted.

What is the difference between a pre-hung and a slab door, and which is better?
A pre-hung door comes with the frame, hinges, and door as one assembled unit - it's the right choice for new openings or when you're replacing both the door and the frame. A slab door is just the door panel itself, installed into an existing frame. Slab installs are faster and less expensive when the existing frame is in good shape. We recommend pre-hung when the opening needs any structural modification.
How long does a door installation take?
A standard pre-hung interior door installation takes about 2-3 hours per door including casing. A slab door swap in an existing frame takes about 1 hour. If we're doing multiple doors in a home renovation, we group them to reduce setup time. Pocket door installations or custom openings take longer.
How do you ensure a door is level and plumb during installation?
We use a laser level and plumb bob to establish true vertical and horizontal references before shimming anything. Shims are placed at the hinge and strike locations first, then additional shims fill any gaps for solid backing. We check the gap around the door on all sides before nailing through the frame - equal reveals all around is the target.
What hardware is included in a door installation?
Our door installation typically includes the door, frame, and casings. Hardware (hinges, handles, locksets, and door stops) is either supplied by the client or can be sourced through us at additional cost. We install whatever hardware is specified and adjust strike plates for a smooth latch. If you need help selecting hardware, we can advise.
