Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)
Resilient

Resilient

Luxury Vinyl Plank is the most popular resilient flooring on the market — and for good reason. It offers the warmth and character of hardwood with complete waterproofing, pet and child resistance, and easy floating installation over virtually any substrate.

How It Works

LVP floats over a thin foam underlayment — no adhesive required for most products. We click boards together, maintain expansion gaps, and install transitions and base trim. Installation is fast, clean, and can happen on top of most existing floors.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is luxury vinyl plank (LVP) waterproof?

Yes. LVP is 100% waterproof, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and laundry rooms. Unlike hardwood or laminate, standing water won't damage the planks. However, the subfloor underneath must still be properly sealed to prevent moisture issues from below.

How does LVP compare to hardwood flooring?

LVP is more affordable, waterproof, and easier to maintain than hardwood. It's also more scratch-resistant for homes with pets or children. Real hardwood has a higher resale value and can be sanded and refinished multiple times. LVP cannot be refinished but individual planks can be replaced if damaged.

Can LVP be installed over existing flooring?

In many cases yes. LVP can float over existing hard flooring like tile or old vinyl if the surface is flat (within 3/16" per 10 ft). We assess the existing floor condition during the quote. Carpet must always be removed first.

How long does LVP flooring last?

Quality LVP with a thick wear layer (12 mil or more) typically lasts 20–25 years with normal residential use. Commercial-grade products last longer. The key factor is wear layer thickness, so we recommend 12 mil minimum for high-traffic areas.
