Flash Cove / Integral Cove Base
Expert installation and craftsmanship, serving the GTA & Ottawa.
ResilientResilient
Flash cove or integral cove base is a seamless transition where the resilient flooring is turned up the wall, eliminating the gap between floor and baseboard. Mandatory in commercial kitchens and healthcare, and increasingly used in high-end residential wet areas.
A coving strip is adhered at the floor-wall junction, forming the radius. The resilient sheet is heated to become pliable, formed over the cove strip, adhered to the wall, and heat-welded at all seams for a watertight result.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is flash cove and why would I want it?
Flash cove is where the resilient flooring material - vinyl sheet, rubber, or linoleum - gets turned up the wall 4-6 inches instead of ending at a baseboard. The result is a seamless, watertight transition between floor and wall with no gap where water, dirt, or bacteria can collect. It looks clean, stays clean, and is built to last.
Is flash cove required by health codes?
In commercial kitchens, food processing areas, and healthcare facilities in Canada, seamless cove base is typically required by provincial health codes. The specific requirement varies by jurisdiction. We can advise on what your local code requires before installation begins.
Can flash cove be done in a residential home?
Absolutely - it's increasingly used in residential wet rooms, laundry areas, and mudrooms where waterproofing and easy cleaning are priorities. It looks sharp, is very durable, and makes mopping a floor trivially easy since there's no baseboard to work around.
Is flash cove easy to clean?
That's one of its main advantages. There are no joints, no gaps, and no baseboard gaps to trap dirt. You can mop right up the wall with no worries. For commercial kitchens, this means pressure washing is possible without water getting behind walls. For homes, it means a significantly faster and cleaner routine clean.
